ODA is having a virtual meeting this Friday at 10:00 am. I am not sure many of you are aware, but we were notified that we were not REQUIRED to license our inflatables this year under the emergency order.

Here is a letter one of our members received.

Thank you for contacting me regarding state inspections for inflatables. I am grateful that you spent the time to email me.

After receiving your inquiry, my staff reached out to the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) for more information. The department informed my office that ODA is currently scheduling and performing inspections and that you are welcome to contract them to schedule such inspections. Please see the below additional information that they provided to me

Under HB 197, the licenses that expired between March 9, 2020 and the end of the emergency order remain valid. It appears that inflatables that expired 5/20/2020, and more set to expire 6/26/2020 (in addition to the three that were licensed in May of 2020). However, you would still be required to submit itineraries, provide update insurance, and ODA can conduct supplemental inspections. Furthermore, we encourage all operators to timely renew their permits and request inspections to maintain their licensing schedules.

Again, thank you for contacting me. If you have questions about this or any other state issue in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best Regards,

Jay Hottinger
State Senator
31st District

With this memo it appears as though you could have an extension. If anyone would like to be part of the discussion in this matter please join the meeting at 10:00am Friday.
